Obituary of Betty Christina Shimer
Betty Christina Shimer; survived by her children Brady Shimer, Tamzen Shimer and Autumn Shimer. Survived by her grandchild Zander Smith, and all the children she met while her kids were in high school that she became a surrogate mother to.
Mom called me Bear. She was part of my daily joy and positive start to my every day. She was what any mother is to any child, yet so much more to me. She was mom to all. Anyone who for whatever the reason needed "mom" but didn't have or couldn't reach theirs. She accepted my partner Andrea as one of her own, and to see their relationship grow was beautiful. I will miss her dearly every day I have left. ~Daughter, Tamzen
A Poem for Mom
The light you shine is one so bold.
It has sparked our lives and the ones we hold.
If we could change anything, it would be our distance.
Ensuring all of us could visit this instance.
I know you will be missed and always thought of.
Sometimes, it will hurt, and others times hard on.
But there would also be smiles and lots of laughs.
Thinking of the times when we used to dance.
I know for myself I will miss your smile.
The laughter, the love that you spread for miles.
I'll miss your sass, and every time you said you were proud.
And most of all, when you would furrow your brow.
I'll miss you, ma Love you forever.
Your Son Brady.
Momma. Space lady. You hooligan. You went big to go home as fast as you could. You knew Zander needed a guardian and wanted to make sure you were the first one there for him. We all miss you. I promise to hug him every day for you and randomly give him a $5 bill when you inspire me to. (Not everyday ok?) I will make sure he remembers all of your hugs and kisses and how much you loved him. I will remind myself every day of the things you sacrificed to make sure your kids were smiling and taken care of. I will remember all the times you wished you could take our pain away, but also how much you understood that we had to do this on our own. I love you Space lady. Always. More than all the galaxies. ~Daughter, Autumn
This amazing woman has moved on from us. Betty Shimer, mom, mother-in-law, grandmother, friend, best person to laugh with, gentle woman, shining star and nurturing soul, prepared for her next journey that we could not follow her on. We are going to miss her and will never be able to fill the void that she left. She has made a lasting impression on me and I will carry her in my heart as one of the most precious people I have come across in my life. I am blessed to have known her and grown a wonderful relationship with her. She will be sorely missed. ~ Yvonne
