Obituary of Laura C. Iverson
Laura C. Iverson, age 75, passed away on Sunday, July 2, 2023. She is survived by her husband Michael L. Iverson (Mike); son Benjamin F. Iverson (Colonel, US Army) and wife Christine (US Army Physical Therapist); daughter Laura L. Porter (US Air Force Medical Administrator) and husband Mark; and daughter Karen M. Tisdale (US Army Respiratory Therapist) and husband Charles (US Army Mechanic). She is also survived by her seven grandchildren: Laura Isabel, Sofia, Grace, David, Michael, Jane, and Holly.
Laura was born in Duluth, Minnesota on October 24, 1947 and grew up in the same city. After graduating high school in 1965, she attended the University of Minnesota, earning a Bachelors of Science in Nursing, and entered military service in 1969 through the Army Student Nurse Program. Laura was commissioned in the Women’s Army Corps, completed the Medical Department Officer Basic Course at Fort Sam Houston in November 1970, and served as a registered nurse in assignments at the United States Military Academy (where she met Mike) and Dugway Proving Grounds. She left service in 1972 as a Captain and went on to marry Mike. Laura continued working as a nurse in the communities where she lived for the next 40 years.
To her family, since the beginning of their lives, she was gentle, caring, honest, always involved, and loved unconditionally. All three of Laura’s children similarly served in the military, both daughters electing to serve in medical positions.
A funeral service will be held at Fort Logan, Colorado on September 1st, 2023 at 1:30pm.
