Obituary of John A. Arnold III

John A Arnold III faced his death with the same bravery that he faced his life and work.  He died surrounded by his children and the beautiful mountains of his Bailey home.

John was born in April of 1951 in St Joseph Mo, and called the prairies of Nebraska his home for the majority of his life.  John was a firefighter, joining Lincoln Fire and Rescue in November of 1973.  He received numerous Letters of Merit, Letters of Recommendation, formal Thank you’s and several Phoenix Awards during his 39 years of dedicated service.

He retired as a Captain to the mountains of Colorado. There he enjoyed his passions of hunting, fishing, four wheeling, camping.  He was lucky enough to live with his son, daughter in law, and youngest granddaughter.  He loved helping his granddaughter avoid bed time when she was little.

She would drag her pillow and blanket to grandpa's room and they would play and talk until her parents insisted it was indeed time for bed.  John loved the outdoors.  If it was warm he could be found basking in the sun or golfing.  He loved sharing his passions with his kids and grandkids.  Riding the polaris on mountain trails or in the backyard were favorites.  And when it was time to settle down, Westerns and aviation movies were top of the list.
