Obituary of Mary Rita Martinez Madrid

Mary Rita Martinez Madrid, 94, passed away peacefully on July 4th, 2023.

Rita was born on October 6th, 1928 in Las Vegas, New Mexico. She was the oldest of two children born to Cipriono and Felipita Martinez. As a child Rita enjoyed riding her horse, Brownie. Rita’s father unfortunately passed away when Rita was young and she and her younger brother Joe were raised by her mother Felipita and her Aunt Visentita.

Rita was married to Abelino Madrid for 69 years before Abelino passed away in 2020 and also preceded in death by her son Stephen. She is survived by her son Hector (with wife Anita), her daughter Geraldine (with husband Kirk) and son Michael (with wife Vicki). Rita also leaves behind five grandchildren, six great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.

Rita’s remains will be placed alongside her husband at Fort Logan Cemetery.

Family and friends are welcome to the funeral service, held at Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church (2361 E. 78th Ave.) on July 21st, 2023 at 11:00 a.m.
