Obituary of Annie Jeanette Jorstad
Beloved mother and grandmother, Annie Jeanette Jorstad, passed away peacefully in her home of natural causes on June 5,2023, surrounded by her children and grandchildren at the age of 83. Annie was a wonderful mother and grandmother. She had a very strong faith and was loved by all that knew her for her wity personality and her beautiful smile.
Annie was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Jorstad, her parents, George and Genevieve Culna, her three brothers, Richard “Dick” Culna, Thomas Culna, and George “Junior” Culna, her mother-in-law, Margaret Romero, and her son, Dean Jorstad. She is survived by her children, Richard “Rick” Jorstad (Linda), Kandis Jorstad (Emily), Jackie Gallo (Dan), Stepdaughter Davona Jorstad, and her grandchildren Nicholas “Nick” Abeyta, John Gallo, Genevieve Gallo (Isaiah), Devin Jorstad (Emily), Austin Jorstad, and great granddaughter Mandy Abeyta.
Annie was a lifetime resident of Denver, Colorado. She graduated from North High School in Denver, and married Gene Miller in 1957. She and Gene had two sons, Rick and Dean, and remained married until the time of Gene’s passing. Annie then married John “Jack” Jorstad on January 6, 1964, and they had two daughters, Kandis and Jackie. They had a blessed life together of 50 years until Jack’s passing on September 19, 2014.
In her younger days, Annie worked as an operator for Bell Telephone Co., and later as a custom cake decorator for King Soopers. The majority of her life was spent as a homemaker, taking care of her children and enjoying their activities while providing the comfort and care that only a mother can give while maintaining her home. Her children and grandchildren were the center of her world and she would do anything for them.
Annie’s hobbies included painting and drawing, cake decorating, and spending time with her family. She had a special love for angels and dogs and buterflies.
The family has established a memorial in her name at St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital and Best Friend’s Animal Society.
