Obituary of Mary "Mamie" (Marusak) Topper
Mary “Mamie” (Marusak) Topper, age 95, of Thornton, Colorado, passed away at Bonaventure of Thornton on March 17, 2023.
Mary was born in Hazleton, Pennsylvania to Mary (Bretsky) and Andrew Vincent Marusak of Weatherly, PA on July 20, 1927. Mary graduated from Weatherly High School and went on to attend Juilliard School of Music, in New York City, as a voice major where she met her husband, Richard A. Topper, who was also studying at Juilliard.
Mary and Richard were married in Cincinnati, Ohio on October 11, 1947, the same day that Richard started his career with the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra. Mary and Dick traveled the world with the CSO on tour in 1966 and continued their travel adventures well into retirement. Mary and Dick were married for 65 years.
Mary was an accomplished swimmer in her youth and was chosen to swim in the Olympics, unfortunately, the Olympics were canceled due to WWII. She continued to swim beautifully throughout her life and also grew to love playing tennis and golf.
Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Richard, in 2013, her parents, her six brothers and sisters, Carl Marusak, Martha (Gallagher), Francis Marusak, Teresa (Meier), Andrew Marusak Jr., and Ann (Baker), and her granddaughter, Alexandra Dublikar.
Mary is survived by her daughters, Tabetha and her husband Jack Adams of Thornton, Colorado and Teresa and her husband James Dublikar of Aurora, Colorado. Mary is also survived by five grandchildren, Christopher Adams of Livingston, Montana, Gabriel Adams of Arvada, Colorado, Desiree (Adams) and her husband Mikey Wheeler of Broomfield, Colorado, Andrew Dublikar of Aurora, Colorado and Dominic Dublikar and his wife Lauri (Baudanza) of Litchfield, New Hampshire. In addition, Mary is survived by seven great-grandchildren, Toby Adams of Arvada, Colorado, Rhea and Olive Adams of Livingston, Montana, Caleb Schmidt of Cincinnati, Ohio, Isabella Dublikar of Aurora, Colorado, Gabriella and Olivia Schadler of Owenton, Kentucky and Francesca and Ryder Dublikar of Litchfield, New Hampshire.
A funeral Mass will be held on Friday, March 31, 2023 at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, 11385 Grant Drive, Northglenn, Colorado 80233. Visitation will be from 10:00 am - 11:00 am followed by Mass from 11:00 am - 12:00 pm.
