In Memory of
Joann Marie Decker
June 15, 1937 – February 18, 2023
Joann Decker passed away peacefully at home on February 18, 2023, surrounded by family and friends. Joann, daughter of Richard and Daisy Adamson, was born June 15, 1937, in Evanston Illinois. She was the middle child of five children, Patricia, Richard, Arthur and Rodney. Her family moved to Denver, Colorado in the early 1940’s. She graduated from Englewood High School in 1955. Joann married Melton C Decker in March of 1956, and started a family. She had two children Cynthia Marie and Melton Byron. She spent over 30 years working at Metropolitan State College as Director of Payroll and retired in 1997.
Joann and Mel enjoyed many activities with family members and friends over their 66 years of marriage, waterskiing, traveling, camping in the motor home, picnics, BBQs, and playing cards. Joann especially enjoyed “cruising” with her family and visited many places, like Panama, Alaska, and the Caribbean. She preferred warm weather cruising. Joann always welcomed family and friends to her home and it was one of the favorite spots for all to visit. She was a very generous, caring and loving person, always helping someone who needed it.
Joann is survived by her husband of 66 years Melton C Decker, daughter Cynthia (Doug) Addy, Byron (Kim Poffenbarger) Decker, grandchildren Kevin (Kelly) Addy, Shawna Addy, and Jennifer (Bear) Jamison, brother Rodney Adamson. Joann adored her great grandchildren Sierra, Kaiden, Samantha, Brandon, and soon to be delivered Coltan, as well as many many nieces and nephews.
Joann is proceeded in passing by her parents, Richard and Daisy Adamson (Murdie), sister Patricia Adamson (Rooney), Richard Adamson, and Arthur Adamson.
Joann, wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt and friend will be missed more than words can express and will live on in our hearts forever. A Life Celebration will be held June 24, 2023, at the Rooney Ranch, 1730 S. Rooney Road, Golden, CO beginning at 2:00 pm.
