Obituary of Merlyn Jean Shannon

                                                                         Merlyn Jean Shannon

It’s with a heavy heart we share the passing of Merlyn Jean
Shannon. She was scooped into God’s arms on January 30,
2022, from her home of more than 20 years, at the age of 86.
Merlyn was a loving mom, grandma and great grandma.
Merlyn was born to Ed and Ollie Shannon on a farm house in
Lincoln County, Kansas on March 6, 1935. After growing up in
Kansas, she made her way to Sterling, Colorado and then to
Denver, Colorado in 1968. She worked part-time at a TCI affiliate
in Sterling and after moving to Denver started working full-time at
TCI. Merlyn loved working at TCI and worked her way up to the
Executive Secretary to Don Fisher, Executive Vice President and
CFO, retiring in 1997.

After retirement, Merlyn filled her time with travel, bowling, bridge
and grandkids. In fact, she played bridge the day before she
passed driving herself to south Denver to join her friends. She
had a bowling average of 134! At the family bowling parties,
Merlyn was the one all the younger kids were trying to beat.
Merlyn was able to travel to her beloved Ireland, a life long
dream. She took her family on two cruises, Caribbean and
Alaska…this was an adventure she wanted her whole family to

Merlyn is survived by three children; Rhonda, Rod and Ron; three
grandchildren, Shaun, Lindsay and Kyle; four greatgrandchildren,
Zoe, Sylvia, Riley and Parker; and two brothers,
Leonard and Loren.
