Don was born on January 19, 1933, in Scott City, Kansas, to Hulda Vadeen. He was preceded in death by his mother and brother, Sonny Brandengurger. He moved to Denver, Colorado when he was 2 years old. He attended North Denver High School and during the summers, he worked on his uncle’s farm in Flagler, Colorado. After high school, he went to work for his uncle Ben drilling water wells.
While drilling water wells for his uncle, he met his future wife Jean at an ice cream parlor in Scott City, Kansas. When the time came, he asked Jean’s dad, Carl Dice if he could have her hand in marriage. They wed on March 24, 1951 in a small ceremony in Colorado.
Don and Jean’s life was filled with love and joy. They raised 4 daughters, loved their 4 grandchildren, and spoiled their 6 great grandchildren. They made their living building homes so they could enjoy time at their cabin in the mountains, ride motorcycles, and Don loved to travel.
We loved him dearly and he will be forever missed.
